Portraits are an amazing way to memorialize a pet, capture their unique personality or tell a story. A portrait is different than a photo because as I take time to recreate the subject, it takes on new life. Although realism is the aim, it’s not always necessary to include every detail for the likeness to be felt.
Custom pet portraits are created from a mixture of woodburning, colored pencil, and paint. This mixed media approach ticks all the boxes for me, lots of contrast, attention to detail, and the ability to use color in interesting ways. A portrait on wood is really unique and the warm undertones and wood grain will add interest and texture to your home.
