It is my goal that the real connection we have with our animals be felt in a piece of art from the realistic likeness to the colors, light, and texture used to create it. I have always enjoyed the construction of a piece of art as much as the image itself and that is what excited me about woodburning. It is a tedious process using heat to create lines and shading and then adding color on top allowed me to cultivate a style that combined a lot of my previous mediums and interests. Included in that influence is Impressionism and its focus on painterly strokes, color and light as well as Modern Illustration where digital media has high contrast and feels architectural and constructed, rather than smooth like oil paint or blended mediums. It is in the melding of the contradiction of those styles that art reaches beyond a photo. From my desk to your home, great care is taken to create something that will celebrate your pet.
